Napa Youth Chamber Ensemble (NYCE)

NVYS' Youth Chamber Ensemble (NYCE) began in 2008 as a chance for some of NVYS's top players to gain additional leadership and performance experience. The ensemble performs at four to six events a year including concerts at the Jarvis Conservatory, NVYS fundraisers and select recitals. Chamber music requires a high musical standard. "Students have to play their parts alone, so every note is the student's responsibility," said professional violinist Yasushi Ogura, NYCE Director since 2012, who makes sure those standards are upheld in weekly rehearsals with the ensemble.
