09/22/26 - Good rehearsal last week. We are making outstanding progress towards our November concert! You are learning this music quickly - so quickly, in fact, that we may need to add at least one additional piece to the program so we don't run out of things to rehearse! If you have suggestions for pieces of American music that you want to play I am all ears!

4-5:15pm Sectional Coachings
5:15pm Break
5:30-6:45pm Youth Symphony Full rehearsal: Bernstein "West Side Story, " Copland "Fanfare" and Price, "Adoration"
09/15/26 - GREAT rehearsal this week! We are off to a great start this season! A reminder that at our next rehearsal (September 20th) we will be holding seating auditions for the strings. String players should prepare the excerpts listed below. Accommodations will be made for any ensemble member who needs to miss this rehearsal - please email me directly to discuss.
Violin: Copland “Hoe Down” rehearsal m. 14 - 17; Bernstein Letter G-K (“Maria”) (your choice between 1st or 2nd Violin)

09/01/26 - Thank you all for a GREAT first rehearsal! I'm very much looking forward to our season of music-making together in our wonderful new space! A friendly reminder to please make sure you establish a regular practice routine and regular private lessons as the semester gets underway! Please let me know if you have any questions about what/how to practice or about finding an appropriate private teacher if you don't already have one.
A few important dates coming up:
September 13th Orchestra Rehearsal (no coaching): we will focus on Bernstein West Side Story and "Hoe-Down. "
September 20th Rehearsal w/seating auditions for Bridge and YO string players. For the seating auditions on September 20th, string players should prepare the excerpts listed below. Accommodations will be made for any ensemble member who needs to miss rehearsal on the 20th due to Yom Kippur - please email me (kahnale@nvyso.org) directly to discuss.
