10/13/26 - Hello Sinfonia Members! For Sunday, October 18th, please focus your practice on preparing our three new pieces:
Allegro,
Bought Me a Cat, and
Boil em Cabbage Down.
10/06/26 - We are working on reading slurs and notes on the E string. Please prepare:
Thank you for your hard work!
09/27/26 - We want our Sinfonia musicians to continue building skills and moving forward together each week. Right now, it appears that some families and students are not consistently checking the weekly homework assignments. When assignments are missed, rehearsal time must be used to repeat material instead of advancing to new skills and repertoire.
This week, we will be repeating last week’s homework assignment. Please take time before rehearsal to review and practice the assigned material.
For our next rehearsal on 10/04, please prepare:
Essential Elements Book 1: #137, #138, and #155 for slurred bowing.
Practice with "air bowing" saying the downs and ups out loud to help get the bowing in your muscle memory.
Attack!: Focus with slow careful practice on spots with low 1st and low 2nd fingers for perfect intonation.
Practice Steps: 1) Rhythm: clap rhythm while you say the beats, 2) Left Hand: Pizzicato and 3) Right Hand: Air bow.
G Street Rock: Please especially focus with slow careful practice on spots with low 1st and low 2nd fingers for perfect intonation.
Practice Steps: 1) Rhythm: Clap, 2) Left Hand: Pizzicato, and 3) Right Hand: Air bow.
Going forward, we ask all Sinfonia families to make it part of your weekly routine to:
Check the Homework Assignments each week.
Help your musician set aside time to practice.
Bring all assigned music and materials to rehearsal.
A little preparation at home makes a big difference in what the entire ensemble can accomplish together. Thank you for helping our Sinfonia musicians come prepared, confident, and ready to grow.
