Can I fly/travel earlier or leave later?Yes, there are two basic ways of accomplishing this: a) paying a land only tour cost and purchasing your own airline ticket, or b) staying later, with a $175 ticket change fee. It is not possible to request an earlier arrival date but return home with the group - if you'd like to arrive earlier you must choose the land only tour cost option and purchase your own ticket.
Can I go on a private excursion with my family during the tour?
No, all participants must stay with their chaperoned group within the NVYS during the tour.
Who will be attending our concerts in Europe??
The tour company organizes all aspects of the concerts, including communicating with local contacts to ensure that the local population knows about and attends the concerts.
Fundraising Questions
When do I turn in my fundraising??You can turn in your fundraising at any rehearsal.
Tour Finances
Do I pay Encore even if I have fundraised money?If you have fundraised and have submitted your fundraising efforts to the NVYS by the respective deadlines, the Youth Symphony will make a full or partial payment on your behalf for qualified fundraising. If you have submitted fundraising efforts that don't cover the full scheduled payment, you will have to pay Encore the remainder of the balance according to the beforelinked schedule.
The deadline for the last payment is in March? But I want to continue fundraising after that!
We greatly encourage all students to continue fundraising after the last payment of the tour payment schedule is due. Even though all tour money is due to Encore by March, all fundraising money raised afterwards will be returned to you as a refund of tour payments to Encore.
When is the latest I can decide to go?
Students should sign up for tour as arrangements are already being made.
