Special Invitation to NVYS Alumni!
The Napa Valley Youth Symphony will be embarking on our first international tour in June of 2012 to Vienna, Prague, and Salzburg. We are making a special invitation to all NVYS alumni to join us on this performance tour! The tour will be an exciting trip visiting the birthplace of many major classical composers and compositions, and performing in some of the most famous and spectacular venues in Central Europe. June 2012 also marks the fifth full season as a standalone organization for the Napa Valley Youth Symphony; the tour wouldn't be complete without inviting our alumni from the past seasons to join us in Europe.
The draft itinerary for tour the can be found here. The tour represents a good mix of great performance venues, local collaborations, and sight-seeing. Most meals are included, lodging at reputable hotels, and travel costs are included.
If you are a NVYS Alumni interested in joining in June 2012 for this tour, please let us know as soon as you can by emailing us at: info@nvyso.org. You will have to be able to play your part of the repertoire at an acceptable level to be able to participate; we may ask to hear you prior to the tour to ensure that you can perform your part. You will also be required to join the Youth Symphony for a minimum of three rehearsals on the tour music prior to the tour. The deadline for informing us if you'd like to join and participate in the tour is September 1st; if you are thinking about joining the tour but don't know yet, please feel free to tell me too. You must be approved for participation prior to registering with the tour company.

All alumni will be offered the same discounts and fundraising opportunities the current Napa Valley Youth Symphony students will have; these fundraising opportunities can greatly reduce the cost of the tour and even has the possibility of completely subsidizing the tour.

This tour is sure to be an unforgettable experience and we hope that many of our alumni can join us in Europe. Note that for this tour, alumni will refer to all musicians that have played at least one full season with the Youth Symphony. If you are of high school age or younger and have played one season with us in the past but are no longer playing with the NVYS, you are not eligible for the tour unless you can show NVYS staff of direct reasonable conflicts that prevent your participation with the NVYS during the year.
