Welcome to the NVYS Website

Named a "fantastic cultural treasure" by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Napa Valley Youth Symphony was created in 2002 to provide talented young musicians an opportunity to perform together in a full symphonic orchestra. Coming from over twenty schools in and around the Napa Valley, these young musicians perform some of the greatest works in the symphonic literature and are coached each week by professional musicians. In 2008, the Napa Valley Youth Symphony started Sinfonia, a string training ensemble. The Napa Valley Youth Symphony has been recognized for excellence and is supported by many foundations, businesses and individuals.

The Napa Valley Youth Symphony takes top honors at the Los Angeles International Music Festival!

The Napa Valley Youth Symphony, performing with the Modesto Symphony Youth Orchestra, took top honors this June performing at the famous Disney Hall, the Frank Gehry designed performing hall of the Los Angeles. Judges were wowed by the Youth Symphony's energy and musical playing - and the NVYS was rewarded with Gold Award! Students also performed at Disneyland; Disneyland employees said it was "one of the best performances at the park they have seen in the past six years!"

Congratulations to all the students for their fantastic performances!

Napa Valley Youth Symphony Flash Mob!

The Napa Valley Youth Symphony "invaded" the Oxbow Market on a random Saturday and treated guests to an impromptu performance of the First Movement of Vivaldi's Violin Concerto. Suddenly out of nowhere a dozen violinists from Sinfonia and the NVYS performed; at the end of their performance they vanished back into the crowd! Who knows when the next performance will be!

Congratulations to all the students for their fantastic performances!
