Concerto Competition

about the concerto competition

The Concerto Competition is an annual event to recognize outstanding members of NVYS and to provide members of the orchestra an opportunity to perform a movement of a concerto in it’s intended presentation: with orchestral accompaniment. The Competition is open to all NVYS members in good standing. Students may not win in two consecutive years.

Repertoire

Concerti are to be one movement from any standard work with parts readily available and playable by the orchestra members. The work must be published in a version for your instrument and orchestra, not just piano accompaniment. Ask your teacher for help with this. All entries must be approved by the music director.

Performance

Based on the competition (Held concurrent with an NVYS rehearsal), up to two performers will be chosen to perform their selected concertos with NVYS in a concert at the Lincoln Theater.
